BLOCKLORDS: Siege, Loot, and Pillage Your Way to Economic Prosperity!

Greetings, fellow blockchain and gaming enthusiasts!

Earl Tyrel here, with a user’s nontechnical take on the history and current state of Seascape and their flagship game, BLOCKLORDS.

My favourite period in human history happens to be medieval Europe, so naturally I was drawn to BLOCKLORDS when I first heard about it. The artwork was fantastic and the game supported a map which matched mainland Europe, complete with cities to fight over, which were big prizes in this early stage of the game’s development. It cost TRX to attack cities, but they were eagerly fought over, because every time you gained control of one, you received random loot drops that instantly upgraded your gear. On top of that, the ruling Lords received a portion of coffers paid out over time. The greater a city was fought over, the larger the city’s coffers grew. This led to more and more ambitious and greedy Lords fighting over a city; things were intense and the Telegram chat room grew lively.

Sadly, the NFT marketplace never took off as players refused to buy and sell the now rare Gen 0 items, preferring to hoard them instead. Another roadblock came when one (very buff) player was able to conquer all the cities, with no-one able to challenge him. I don’t remember his name, only that I stepped to the plate and rallied all the Lords I could into launching an all out blitz against him and his cities. My plan was to bankrupt the guy into submission. Did it work? No, not really. Though I did earn myself a wee reputation for at least having the courage to step up.

The most exciting part of Seascape’s game for me were the tournaments that the team launched every weekend. It varied from week to week, sometimes it was sieging cities, other times it was selling items on the marketplace. My personal favourite was seeing who could kill the most bandits. I earned XP for my Lord’s gear, improving his base stats, and it allowed me to talk some good hearted trash in the chat room, as my name was seen sitting somewhere near the top of the leaderboard.

By the end of the Tron era, I had a city to call my own; Gdansk, the most northern city on the map. I always enjoyed roleplaying a Norse raider, their boldness is admirable. While I felt the Tron era was a grand success, the game has since travelled to Ethereum, to where it still calls home today.

BLOCKLORDS has undergone many changes and had many overhauls since landing on Ethereum, but the heart of the game has stayed the same. Medieval Europe is still up for grabs for those NFT Lords who have enough ambition, timely strategy, and courage to take whichever slice of the map they choose. I’m in love with the fact that I personally own my own in-game character, as well as all of my gear, and the city I run. It is a wonderful challenge of holding a city against other players who want it.

Join me on this grand adventure! Start up a Lord of your own and then head over to the Telegram chat room and say hello. Oh, and do be cautious when travelling north ;)

The Lord of Gdansk,
Earl Audrey Tyrel
